In addition, varieties from various partners around the world are managed
and provided to the nurseries which are supplied in the form of sublicences.
Breeding & selection
We are daily committed to find productive, preservable and high-level apple varieties. We do it for both farmers and consumers, always offering excellent and innovative products for the markets. We aim at genetic improvement of “conventional” varieties (color, size, sensitivity), to keep high apples-variety standards and sales trends. We have dozens of varieties available to suit every need: from the “classic” Gala and Golden, the red Fuji to stars like Evelina and Tessa. Our breeding program (for new apple varieties) is about 1,000 crosses a year, many of which are already under observation, to give you only the best trees and fruits in the future.
Production of grafting material
The location to the south of Venice, close to the sea and well away from orchards, provides ideal conditions from several aspects. The quality of the propagation material is of crucial importance in dictating the success of a variety, a clone.
Variety-specific propagation methods and a very high density of controls guarantee the highest possible level of quality: The classification into “stable”, “slightly unstable” and “unstable” varieties forms the basis for the application of different production practices in the propagation of budwood.
The propagation of so-called “unstable” varieties requires a great deal of effort, which manifests itself in the orchard with a high proportion of class 1 fruit.
Marketing
Concepts which are designed and supported by experts already enjoy international success today. The Feno concepts rely on a high degree of transparency and thus on management in a spirit of partnership of the entire supply chain from the owner of the property rights, the nurseries, the producers and the marketers right through to the consumer.
Evelina® GmbH, a subsidiary of Feno GmbH, was able to establish a production chain with such values to ensure that the way the company operates is based on principles of partnership and to substantially promote the creation of added value for all of the parties involved.

The Feno breeding programme comprises approx. 1,000 crosses every year.
The breeding aim is clearly defined: The intention is to produce a variety with good suitability for growing, properties which cater for the requirements of consumers and high recognition value. Several breed specimens with impressive properties are already being tested.
